Stanbic Bank Uganda has demonstrated its commitment to social impact through a significant contribution to support maternal health in the country.
In collaboration with multiple private sector partners, the bank has donated over 800 million shillings to enhance maternal healthcare and ensure safer experiences for expectant mothers throughout Uganda.
The bank’s sustainability report for 2022, launched recently at Serena Hotel in Kampala, highlights the collective effort undertaken with organizations including MTN Uganda, Uganda Breweries Limited, Uganda Communications Commission, and nine other prominent entities through the Corporate Society for Safe Motherhood (CSM). This collaboration aims to improve the quality of maternal healthcare by equipping 26 health clinics across the nation with vital equipment and mama kits.
The investment has had a tangible impact on the well-being of expectant mothers, providing them with essential care and resources during pregnancy and childbirth. The mama kits supplied by the initiative contain sterile supplies and postpartum care products, ensuring safe deliveries.
Under its Social Impact pillar, Stanbic Bank Uganda has also prioritized youth empowerment, education, and healthcare. The flagship initiative, the Stanbic National Schools Championship, focuses on empowering young individuals and enhancing access to quality education. The program annually engages with 100 schools, 100 teachers, and 60,000 students. Since its inception, over 180,000 students have participated, resulting in the development of more than 200 business ideas within schools.
